Jumanne Rajabu Mtambalike is a Tanzanian innovator and technology enthusiast, entrepreneur, social reformer, blogger, and author. Best known for championing the building of stable innovation ecosystems in Africa, he is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Ventures, a company started in 2015 and dedicated to building a stable innovation technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem inAfrica. Sahara Ventures is a group consisting of three companies; Sahara Consulting, a management consulting firm adopting innovation, technology, and entrepreneurial approaches; Sahara Accelerator, acorporate-sponsored and venture-backed startup and SME accelerator; and Sahara Sparks, a conference and marketplace for innovation and technology stakeholders. Among many notable achievements, he is best known in innovation circles as the first Bunt Innovation Hub Manager, and champion of Silicon Dar, Tanzania’s first organically formed technology district in the country’s financial capital, Dar es Salaam. For two successive years, in 2017 and 2018, he was voted as the most influential Tanzanian in science and technology. As a speaker, he has been vocal mostly on issues around innovation and technology for development including policies and regulations, and future technologies. His mantra is the use of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship to solve the most complex challenges Africa faces. His voice has been heard through his personal blog, podcast series, Smart Monkey TV and in partnership with platforms such as VC4Africa.Mtambalike strongly believes in the power of technology as a tool to transform society. He has been anardent promoter of women's involvement in the ICT sector through initiatives such as She-Codes for Change, She-Found Africa Initiative, and Buni Divaz. He is also the brains behind the first training manual of She-Codes for Change which involved training young girls in basic coding, making, and application development. He has been supporting the establishment and capacity building of innovation hubs in East Africa and is part of the mentoring team of Ndoto Hub, a Tanzanian locally established female-led business incubator. He has also been conducting courses and programs for the sustainability of African innovation hubs and business incubators through AfriLabs, a network of African tech hubs. He enjoys working with youth initiatives in areas of innovation, technology entrepreneurship and youthcapacity-building programs. One such initiative is the Tanzania Al Lab, a community of youth who are enthusiastic about Artificial Intelligence adoption in Africa. He was a member of the Tanzania Sector Skills Council focusing on ICT skills and is a senior consultant for the Tanzania Commission for Scienceand Technology (COSTECH). He was appointed as a member of the National Entrepreneurship Development Committee (NEDC) by Tanzania’s National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) wherehe offers technical advice and shares his experience on promoting entrepreneurship and accelerating youth empowerment in Tanzania.   He completed his tertiary education in India with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science focusing on Electronics, and a Master of Science degree in Information Technology and Management from Institute of Finance Management (IFM) and Avinashilingam Women’s University. His research focused on developing guidelines for mobile money API adoption by electronic businesses. This was followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in ICT Leadership and Knowledge Societies from Dublin City University.
