The Teacher Education Department:

(i) Coordinates the task of reviewing and revising inclusive curricula and syllabi for Teacher Education level;

(ii) Coordinates the activity of designing and developing curricula support materials for Teacher Education level;

(iii) Coordinates provision of in-service training programmes, conferences, workshops, and seminars on uses of curricula and curriculum support materials to Teacher Education Level;

(iv) Carries out research in the field of education at teacher education level;

(v) Coordinates the activity of conducting monitoring and evaluation of curriculum implementation at teacher education level;

(vi) Specifies standards of equipment, instruments and other types of educational devices used in teacher education level;

(vii) Assists the Deputy Director General on educational matters related to achievement and maintenance of quality education at Teacher Education level;

(viii) Prepares directorate annual budget and reports;

(ix) Supervises curriculum developers for effective functioning of the directorate:

(x) Undertakes consultancy services belonging to teacher education level;

(xi) Conduct examinations on subjects within its competence and issue certificates, diplomas and relevant awards at teacher education level.
