The Secondary Education Department:

(i) Coordinates the role of reviewing and revising inclusive curricula and syllabi for Secondary Education level;

(ii) Coordinates the designing and development of curricula support materials for Secondary Education level;

(iii) Coordinates the provision of in-service training programmes, conferences, workshops, and seminars on uses of curricula and curricula support materials to Secondary Education level;

(iv) Carries out research in the field of education at Secondary Education level.

(v) Coordinates the activity of conducting monitoring and evaluation of curriculum implementation at Secondary Education level;

(vi) Specifies standards of equipment, instruments and other types of educational devices used in Secondary Education level;

(vii) Advises and assists the Deputy Director General on educational matters related to achievement and maintenance of quality education at Secondary Education level;

(viii) Prepares Directorate annual budget and reports;

(ix) Supervises curriculum developers for effective functioning of the department;

(x) Undertakes consultancy services belonging to Secondary Education level;

(xi) Recommends in-service training programmes to staff within the Directorate.
