Legal Services Unit

Establishment
The Tanzania Institute of Education is a public service organ established by Act No. 5 of 1993. Its objectives and functions are provided under Section 4 of the Act; the primary function being to translate the national education policies in curriculum and programmes to be implemented in pre primary, primary, secondary and teacher education levels.
In order to facilitate its goals to the public, Tanzania Institute of Education operates in various Sections/Units as per professional requirements. Legal Services Unit is a new one, recently established by the TIE Schemes of Service adopted in 2009.
The hitherto structure was a result of Institutional Transformation Review carried out in the year 2006. The review report suggested some changes to the ex-structure one of the suggestion being the establishment of the Legal Section.
One among its duties is to make sure that all documents requiring legal expertise are legally drafted to safeguard the interests of the Institute.
